Organ Concerts

Theodore Feldmann specializes in concerts for the average music lover. His goal is to perform music that is interesting, musically appealing, and which brings people to a greater love of the powerful possibilities of the organ as a musical instrument.

He has a particular interest in music by American composers.  Concerts include commentary on the pieces to be performed.  The average length of a concert is a little over an hour.  Mr. Feldmann is open to playing either pipe or electronic organs.  Fees are reasonable.

A theme for many of his concerts is Music for the Spiritual Journey.  The concert includes short reflections on the composers, their spirituality and theology and the melodies and themes they have used to create their works, from Gregorian chant to African-American spirituals to jazz.  The concerts are performed in a meditative, environment that invites the audience on a spiritual journey through learning and music.

Theodore Feldmann has performed concerts in such venues as Portland City Hall Auditorium, Portland, ME; Old South Church, Boston; Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, New York;  Bruton Parish Church, Williamsburg, VA; The National Cathedral and Church of the Epiphany in Washington, D.C., and the Cathedral of Mary our Queen, Baltimore.  He has performed as organist and accompanist for major services and concerts at the National Cathedral and the National Shrine of the Immculate Conception in Washington, both the Basilica of the Assumption and the Cathedral of Mary our Queen in Baltimore and the Church of the Madeleine and Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris.

Theodore Feldmann, is a graduate of Westminster Choir College of Rider University, which has one of the leading departments for organ and choral music in the country.  At Westminster he studied with noted recitalists William Whitehead and Robert Carwithen.  Ted has continued to study with prominent persons in the field:  Phillip Steinhaus, Boston Conservatory; Harry MacMurray, Loyola University, New Orleans, and Roger Nyquist, Santa Clara University.  He has coached with Roberta Gary of Cinncinati Conservatory.
